About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an innovative robotics technology company based in Munich that is expanding its mechanical engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to play a key role in the development of next-generation robotic systems, working on complex mechanical assemblies, lightweight structures and high-performance engineering solutions.

You will be involved in the complete mechanical development lifecycle, from initial concepts and detailed CAD design through to simulation, prototyping, manufacturing and final integration.

The position offers significant technical ownership, close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams and the opportunity to influence the design of advanced robotic hardware.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and develop complex mechanical components, assemblies and structural systems using advanced 3D CAD tools.

  • Translate engineering concepts into detailed, production-ready mechanical designs.

  • Develop lightweight, robust mechanical structures while optimising strength, stiffness, weight and overall performance.

  • Perform mechanical calculations, structural assessments and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs.

  • Apply sound engineering principles to load paths, bearing selection, fastening systems and mechanical interfaces.

  • Design components with manufacturability, assembly efficiency and cost optimisation in mind (DFM/DFA).

  • Support prototype development, testing, design validation and the transition into manufacturing.

  • Work closely with electrical, controls, software and other engineering teams to ensure effective mechanical integration.

  • Contribute to the integration of actuation systems, sensors and other electromechanical components.

  • Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation.

  • Support continuous design improvements and contribute to engineering best practices.

  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers where required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design or mechanical engineering, ideally within robotics, automotive, aerospace or other high-performance engineering environments.

  • Strong experience designing and developing complex mechanical products or systems that have progressed into manufacturing or real-world applications.

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software, ideally CATIA, Fusion 360 or comparable professional CAD packages.

  • Strong experience using FEA software such as Abaqus, ANSYS or similar tools for structural, modal or thermal analysis.

  • Excellent understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structural mechanics, load analysis, material selection, bearing design and fastener calculations.

  • Proven experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA).

  • Experience with precision mechanical assemblies, structural components or electromechanical systems.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, technical drawings and production requirements.

  • Ability to take ownership of engineering projects from concept through to implementation.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

  • Professional English communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience within industrial robotics, humanoid robotics or advanced automation.

  • Experience designing lightweight mechanical structures or high-performance actuation systems.

  • Understanding of robotic kinematics, motion systems and mechanical integration.

  • Experience with thermal management, structural optimisation or advanced simulation techniques.

  • Experience taking complex mechanical products from prototype through to series production.

  • Familiarity with fast-paced engineering environments or technology-focused businesses.

  • German language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
