Full Description

We are a European fintech scale-up modernising payment infrastructure in a large, traditional industry that is finally ready for change.
Operating across multiple countries, we run high-volume live systems with real transactional responsibility. We combine startup speed with real operational complexity — and we have ambitious growth and certification goals ahead.
This is not a corporate environment. It’s high ownership, high accountability, and high impact.

The Role
We are looking for a VP of Technology who combines strong technical depth with real leadership capability — someone who can structure, scale quality, and take full ownership of engineering.
This is a hands-on executive role in a company where things change fast, decisions are made quickly, and accountability matters.

Your Responsibility
You will own the entire engineering organization:
  • Lead ~25 developers (via Heads of)
  • Oversee live production systems (Node.js / modern JS stack)
  • Own cloud architecture, hosting, Docker & Kubernetes
  • Drive DevOps, integrations, and delivery teams
  • Ensure system reliability, security, and scalability
  • Strengthen technical risk management (ISO readiness)
  • Raise the bar in recruiting and seniority

You are responsible for both technology and people — structuring where needed, enabling autonomy where possible.

What We’re Looking For
Must-Have
  • Experience owning live production applications
  • Strong hands-on background in JavaScript / Node.js / Docker & Kubernetes
  • Experience leading engineering teams in dynamic environments
  • Proven hiring and evaluation experience
  • Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams

Mindset & Leadership
  • High accountability — no blaming culture
  • Solution-oriented and rational decision-maker
  • Comfortable operating in change and ambiguity
  • Curious about innovation, but not hype-driven
  • Able to challenge constructively without ego
  • Focused on outcomes over titles

If you are rigid about technology choices, overly political, or need heavy corporate structures — this environment will feel uncomfortable.
