Meet Ben – Supporting Germany’s Energy Industry with Freelance Talent

Ben has been part of THRYVE for over six years and is now recognised as our go-to expert in the German energy industry.

During this time, he has partnered with leading organisations such as E.ON, 50Hertz and Telefónica, supporting them in building the specialist teams needed to deliver high-impact projects.

With a focus on the freelance market, Ben connects energy companies with the right talent at the right time, ensuring projects are delivered successfully and efficiently.

His in-depth knowledge of the industry, combined with years of experience working closely with both clients and contractors, makes him a trusted voice on the latest trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the energy sector today.

Ben’s View: What Clients Are Asking For

One of the biggest challenges I’m seeing across the German energy market right now is that companies aren’t just looking for generalists — they need highly specialised experts. It’s no longer enough to simply understand the industry; businesses want professionals who have already delivered on similar projects in the past and can bring that proven experience straight into new initiatives.

This demand is being fuelled by the sheer scale of activity in the sector. Almost every company I speak to is growing, driven by Germany’s increasing demand for energy and the number of major projects underway, both offshore and onshore.

The result is a clear skills gap: companies need niche talent who can step into complex environments quickly, apply their expertise, and help deliver projects on time and to the standards required. For many organisations, accessing this expertise through freelance specialists is becoming the most effective way to stay agile and competitive in such a fast-moving industry.

Looking ahead, the key difference I expect to see over the next 6–12 months is a continued increase in demand for specialised experts as these large-scale projects develop. Companies will need people with proven experience to step in and deliver at pace — and the competition for this talent is only set to grow.

If your organisation is preparing for upcoming projects and you want to ensure you have access to the right expertise, I’d be happy to share what I’m seeing in the market and help you connect with the specialists you need.
